DSMRA Fraser Coast, QLD

Welcome To DSMRA Fraser Coast

About the Fraser Coast Branch:

Hi All Riders
Hope you all had a good xmas & a good start for the new year!

I am Wayne McKellar, the person who will send you emails, Steve Hohn is the Fraser Coast area co-ordinator. Ken Allen is still coordinating our Adventure rides, so it will be another good year for all.
The main aim is to get as many members and encourage new members in our region to join and ride with us. We are in touch with riders in Gympie, Childers and Bundaberg and by using emails we can organise some good rides and meet some new people, all at the press of a button.

I will be sending emails about what is happening with DSMRA recreational rides. All information about dates, times and meeting points will be sent, so if you know a mate interested in joining in on that day you can get organised.

I will also be sending emails about club rides one (1) week before as a reminder and let you know cost, date, time, meeting point and if petrol and food is included. On these rides, Steve or I would appreciate a phone call or email if you are riding and if a mate is coming with you, that way we can work out the numbers and know what supplies needed.
I have 111 contacts at the moment, if you know someone that wants to be added to the list send me details.
Cheers! --- Wayne McKellar

DSMRA Townsville, QLD

Welcome To DSMRA Townsville

About the Townsville Branch:

The Townsville DSMRA branch has been in operation since 2000 - thus entering it’s 12th year of operation.. Riding environments vary from local pine forestry’s, sugar cane & pineapple paddocks, the beach and lush rainforest trails, through to western outback cattle country.

Riding in our region is limited because of the tropical monsoonal (wet) season. Large group rides generally wind up by early October as the heat in our region is rather oppressive and offers risks of heat stroke for riders if under duress. In respect of our riding environments we also attempt not to ride the same route more than once or twice a year to allow for regeneration and we will not rip-up trails that have been soaked by rain.

Of late, the Townsville branch operates approx 8 organised rides between April to October with flexibility for more, dependent of weather… The last few years our multiple day adventure rides in particular, has been reduced due to excessive rain periods. Main access routes which would have been normally passable by mid year had been unpassable because of flooded rivers and creeks etc.
On average our day rides have approx 45 riders attend, however on intro days and sometimes first rides of the year numbers can average between 60 to 80 riders.
Adventure rides are smaller due to fuel limitations…the average adventure ride consists of 10 bikes..

DSMRA Cairns, QLD

Welcome To DSMRA Cairns

About the Cairns Branch:

The Cairns branch of the DSMRA celebrates its 12 year in 2012. In this time the club has been hosting rides around the North Queensland area from Cairns to the Tip.

North Queensland has a rich history in mining and many of the areas that were once mined are now very remote and off the beaten track. DSMRA Cairns rides visit areas such as Maytown, Stannary Hills, Herberton, Irvinebank and Chillagoe and our people are therefore educated in a subtle way about the history of their region. Many of the historic mining areas in North Queensland are only accessible by off-road motorcycle or 4WD.Our current calendar consists of up to ten rides per year. These are generally one, two and three day point to point rides, also incorporating one to two one day closed course rides. The DSMRA Cairns branch offers a riding experience to all members of the community. Our point to point rides are graded according to difficulty and offer challenges for all riders from beginners right through to veteran ex-racers. Our closed-course rides offer a rare opportunity for juniors and unregistered / unlicensed riders to legally and safely experience off-road motorcycling.
